In 2011 I was employed by Vivid Projects to photograph the Birmingham leg of GLI.TC/H, a digital arts festival focussing on errors, deliberate or otherwise.
This was my first exposure to this sort of thing at scale and I found it very inspiring. I was particularly taken with Jon Satrom’s prepared desktops, Apple Macs which had been modified for a mind-bending performance in the spirit of John Cage’s prepared piano.
While I was not a participant, this job seeded lots of ideas which started sprouting at the subsequent Dirty New Media event.
